Our region is caught in a squeeze play, with low pressure in Chicago and high pressure over the Atlantic, leading to precipitation over the D.C. region.
Expect two rounds of storms on Wednesday. The first band of storms arrived early and will blow off as the morning commute ends.
There will be a dry period through midday, but rising temperatures combined with elevated humidity means we'll receive a second round of storms in the afternoon.
That second bout of rain will likely fall sometime around 2 p.m. Severe weather, including lightning, hale and strong winds, is a possibility during that second period of storms. Those showers will likely persist into the evening commute.
When will this rain let up? Scattered showers and a chance of severe weather will hang around until late Thursday.
While the week thus far has been hot and humid, by the end of the week, temperatures will drop. Saturday's lows will be in the 40's, highs in the 60's.
