The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet has landed in Tokyo, where All Nippon Airways is preparing the aircraft for its inaugural commercial flight.
The jet will make a special charter flight from Narita International Airport to Hong Kong on Oct. 26.
The 787 is the first commercial airliner built with a skin of carbon fiber rather than aluminum.
Chicago-based Boeing says the carbon fiber makes the plane quieter and more fuel efficient—using about 20 percent less fuel that a comparable aluminum aircraft.
The plane took off from Everett, Wash. Tuesday morning. Workers there cheered the departure after a three-year delay in bringing the jet to market.
