Former Mayor Dick Murphy says he still has something to offer the city's citizens.
In his new book, "How Murphy's Law Blindsided Leadership with 20/20 Vision," Murphy offers what he says are, "Ten thought-provoking proposals for the future of the city."
Murphy says he was prompted to write the book for three reasons.
"To have an accurate and historic version of what happened while I was there, the good and the bad," he said.
His other reasons: to pass on some lessons and to get out some proposals for the city that he says were never able to get out.
Murphy was San Diego's 33rd mayor and sat on the city council during the mayoral terms of Roger Hedgecock and Pete Wilson.
During his term as mayor, Murphy's office had to deal with some of San Diego's most important moments, including discovering a mismanaged pension, Strippergate and the Cedar Fire.
Murphy will be autographing his book on Oct. 6 at Warwick's Book in La Jolla at 7:30 p.m.
