More New Yorkers are giving high marks to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
A NY1-Marist poll released Tuesday found 36 percent of New Yorkers say he's doing a good job -- and 10 percent rate his performance as excellent.
Another 35 percent rate the mayor's performance as fair, while 18 percent say he's doing poorly. Two percent of those surveyed were unsure where they stood.
The mayor's approval rating had been hovering around 40 percent since March. The figure was 39 percent in an August NY1-Marist poll.
Dr. Lee Miringoff of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion says the mayor's role in the Sept. 11 anniversary and his handling of Hurricane Irene may be responsible for the uptick.
The survey of 623 voters has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
