Northern Virginia drivers now have another place to keep their parked while they ride to work.
Wednesday, Loudoun County opened its first permanent, county-owned commuter parking lot.
County officials held a ribbon cutting today for the Harmony Park and Ride lot. It’s located at 39464 East Colonial Highway near Scott Jenkins Memorial Park.
Aside from spaces for carpools, bike racks and lockers, the new lot features five charging stations for electric vehicles. The charging points are part of a pilot program for Loudoun County. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant helped pay for the stations.
The funds also paid for 48 solar arrays and LED lights at commuter lot.
