Dress, check; shoes, check; corsage, check; Breathalyzer... Well, wait a minute.
Officials at Argyle High School are considering breath tests at next spring's prom in hopes of keeping students from showing up drunk to the dance.
During a school board meeting on Monday night, Argyle High School Principal Jeff Butts said staff members who are trained in using breath tests would administer a passive test. Those tests can sense any alcohol in the air.
Students who tested positive for alcohol would be pulled aside for a more extensive test. If that test comes back positive, the students' parents would be contacted and disciplinary action will be taken.
Butts told the Denton Record-Chronicle, he plans on doing more research and will make contact with other high schools who have implemented similar plans, before it comes back to the school board.
