After the wettest summer on record, September is also off to a soggy start.
The ground is already saturated. Rivers and streams are high, and with up to four inches of rain possible this weekend, flood watches are posted for much of the tri-state.
Drenching downpours are possible Friday afternoon into Saturday morning as low pressure rides along a frontal boundary.
The heaviest rain should be over by Saturday afternoon, but isolated showers and storms are possible for Sunday as well.
The unsettled pattern will bring a chance for more rain on Monday.
Expect temperatures in the low to high 70s through the weekend. High humidity levels will make the air feel sticky and uncomfortable.
