Durham Fair and Other Places for Fried Food

Durham Fair and Other Places for Fried Food

The forecast is a wet one for the weekend into next week, but it's fair season in Connecticut and the festivities will go on. From rides and games, to fried food and candied apples, there's something for everyone at the annual festivals.

Here is a list of the upcoming fairs in and around Connecticut:

The Big E, Sept. 16-Oct. 2: So it's not in Connecticut, but it's the grandaddy of them all. The Big E has food and products from all of the New England states, tons of exhibits, and did we mention FOOD! Darius Rucker, Reba and Blake Shelton provide the entertainment.

Durham Fair, Sept. 22-25: If you're looking for entertainment, this is the place to be. KC and the Sunshine Band plays Friday, with Blues Traveler taking the stage Saturday night and Steel Magnolia on Sunday. Of course there is plenty of food, rides, and animal exhibits too.

Berlin Fair, Sept. 30 to Oct. 2: Have a pet frog? Bring it along for the frog jump contest or try your luck at the blueberry pie eating contest. Country singer Lee Brice is among the performers. He takes the stage on Satuday, Oct. 1.

Southington Apple Harvest Festival, Sept. 30-Oct. 2: When you see people start lining up, it's likely for the famous apple fritters. Don't miss the bed race and all the places to shop.
