DUI charges have been filed against San Diego State University basketball player Jamaal Franklin, the City Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Franklin was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol near campus on Sept. 18, according to SDSU police Capt. Lamine Secka.
Franklin is charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence and one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of 0.08 percent, said city attorney spokesperson Gina Coburn.
Arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 3.
Franklin averaged 2.9 points and 8.1 minutes last season when the Aztecs went 34-3 and reached the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament. He was expected to get significantly more playing time this season as the team lost four of its five starters.
The first game of the season is Nov. 11.
