Dog Bites Woman's Ear Off

Dog Bites Woman's Ear Off

A 19-year-old woman is in the hospital after being bitten by a dog.

It happened Wednesday at a home on the 5200 block of Arlington in Philadelphia.

The woman’s entire ear was bitten off by her 6-month-old pit bull mix dog, according to officials.

One witness says she was suffering a seizure which frightened the dog, causing the animal to bite her.

The woman was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where her condition is unknown. Police recovered the woman's ear and took it to the hospital. No word yet on whether the ear will be reattached.

The dog was taken by the Pennsylvania SPCA and will be evaluated for 10 days. Witnesses say the dog is not a vicious animal and was quiet and shaking when taken away by the SPCA.
