The U.S. Geological Survey reports a small quake occurred seven miles outside Ocotillo, Calif. early Tuesday.
The earthquake was originally recorded as a 3.1 magnitude when it struck at 6:25 a.m. local time.
The epicenter was about 25 miles west-southwest of El Centro.
Earlier Tuesday, a smaller quake measuring 1.5 was recorded in the same area at 3:57 a.m.
