A man who was hunting for deer in the area of Rouse Ridge, near Anza, was rescued Sunday morning. Other hunters heard a man calling for help around 6:37 p.m. Saturday but couldn't find him.
The Riverside County Mountain Rescue team started a search that ended at 1:10 a.m. Sunday. That's when the unidentified hunter was found in a ravine and lifted to safety. He was dehydrated, according to the sheriff's department, and did not need further medical help.
Hunters and hikers are reminded to tell family and friends of their travel plans, and have a GPS device in the event they become lost.
The deer hunting season ends in late November.
