Cash Loan Business Robbed, 2 Arrested in Redlands

Two people were arrested in connection with the robbery Thursday of a cash advance business in the Inland Empire.

The robbery occurred at Advance America on Barton Road. The suspect had a handgun and demanded cash from the register clerk, then ordered a worker to open the back safe.

A second suspect drove a get-away vehicle, according to Redlands police. The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban also was arrested.

Detectives used surveillance video, which captured the license plate number, and led them to an apartment in Redlands.

Police watched the residence and stopped the vehicle about 12 hours after the crime. They found cash believed to have been taken during the robbery.

Redlands police later recovered clothing matching what was seen in the security video and property believed stolen during a home burglary in Los Angeles County.

The suspects have been identified as Michael Earl Avington, 33, of Los Angeles, and George William Scally, 33, of Redlands.
