The Bears put a microphone on Jay Cutler for Sunday's game, the one against the Carolina Panthers in which he had just 100 passing yards.
It's well worth spending just under three minutes listening to and pondering.
The Cutler shown here is much less guarded than the one who stands behind a podium during press conferences. You can see him be a leader, as he congratulates Roberto Garza on a block that allowed Matt Forte to get a TD; self-deprecating, as he laughs at the fact that he didn't throw a single pass in the first quarter, and even a little goofy, as he tells his arm that it was a rest day.
It's a far different view of the QB than Fox and CBS cameras often give. He was not sullen on the bench, but in the game and congratulating his teammates. Lovie Smith even joked about seeing a smile on Cutler's face. He didn't seem to be upset about the Bears run-heavy game plan.
Cutler will always have his detractors, but I hope they would at least take the time to watch something like this.
