The D.C. Council is set to consider emergency ethics legislation.
Councilmember Vincent Orange (D-At Large) is introducing a bill that would set up a task force to examine the council's ethics guidelines. The task force would undertake a broad review before drafting a new ethics code and making recommendations to the mayor and the Council.
Ethics reform has been a hot topic on the Council this year after several members have been criticized for ethical lapses.
Several councilmembers have introduced ethics legislation, and Councilmember Muriel Bowser plans to use her government reform committee to come up with a comprehensive proposal.
It's not clear how much support Orange has for his proposed emergency task force, which will be considered at Tuesday's Council meeting.
