Del. Woman Tries to Sell Newborn Son for $15K

A new mom is in hot water after allegedly attempting to sell her newborn, and so is the man who was ready to buy him.

New Castle County detectives arrested 33-year-old Bridget Wismer, after she tried to sell her newborn son to John Gavaghan, 54, of Philadelphia.

Detectives were alerted to the attempted sale by Wismer’s family members on September 4. They told police she was trying to sell her son for $15,000.

After a month-long investigation, both Wismer and Gavaghan were arrested and charged with dealing in children and conspiracy in the second degree.

Both suspects were arraigned and released.

The newborn is in foster care.
