I-805 Shooting Suspect to Appear in Court

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol Police will discuss the arrest of a suspect in Monday's I-805 shootings that injured one driver and forced the closure of two major highways.

NBCSanDiego will offer a live stream of the news conference scheduled for 11 a.m.

Enrique Ayon, 24, was arrested in Los Angeles Tuesday.

A driver recognized Ayon's car on Interstate 210 in Los Angeles from highway signs posted by the CHP.

Witnesses to the shooting and a hit-and-run accident near San Ysidro described the vehicle as a white 2006 Chevy Malibu with license plate 5POM917, which prompted officials to post signs throughout Southern California describing the vehicle.

The multiple shootings on Monday along I-805 injured one driver near the Mesa College Drive offramp. Another dodged a bullet near I-805 and Plaza Boulevard.

Officials closed I-805 and Interstate 5 for several hours on Monday to investigate.

Ayon was taken into San Diego County Jail late Tuesday. He's expected to be arraigned downtown Thursday afternoon.
