Hemet High School was evacuated Thursday after construction crews damaged a natural gas line.
Cal Fire and Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a gas leak at 41701 Stetson Ave. around 9:20 a.m.
2500 students and staff were evacuated after an incident commander on scene reported smelling "the heavy odor of natural gas."
Construction crews severed a 2 ½ inch gas line located near the back of the school causing the leak, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
No injuries were reported.
Students were let back into class around 10:30 a.m.
