Woman Struck While Recovering Dog's Body

A woman removing her dead dog from the middle of the road was struck by a passing car in City Heights Sunday.

The 61-year-old woman had just put the dog in a cardboard box when a car struck her around 11:30 p.m. at Dwight Street and Central Avenue.

The car, an older red Buick, was last seen speeding away southbound on Central Avenue police said.

The unidentified woman is in the hospital with a broken leg and a damaged liver but is expected to be okay police said.

Witnesses said the suspect’s car had faded paint and damage to the front end.
