A flesh-eating piranha native to South America popped up in a Texas lake late last month.
The Houston Chronicle reports a girl caught a red-bellied piranha in southeast Texas at Tom Bass Park on Aug. 27.
Texas law prohibits the sale and possession of live piranha and other dangerous fish and officials with Texas Parks and Wildlife are concerned people illegally releasing the fish could kill off some species of fish native to Texas.
The catch was only the second verified piranha caught in Texas waters since 1982, but officials are wary that more dangerous fish, including snakeheads and freshwater stingrays, may be out there.
