Wall Street Protester Claims NYPD Used Pepper Spray Recklessly

A woman who took part in New York City's anti-Wall Street protest says a police officer used pepper spray on her and three other women who had done nothing wrong.

Police dispute Chelsea Elliott's claims.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne tells The New York Times that protesters tried to prevent officers from putting a mesh barrier in place.

Browne says that was not captured in a video -- or "was edited out.''

The video from Saturday's Union Square incident shows an officer, wearing a white shirt that indicates a rank of lieutenant or above, blasting the women with pepper spray.

Two of the women crumple on the sidewalk in pain. One screams.

About 80 people were arrested Saturday as "Occupy Wall Street'' demonstrators marched through lower Manhattan.
