Next Stop, Woodbridge?

Next Stop, Woodbridge?

The first phase of the Silver Line is only about half way complete, but already another county is trying to attract another Metro extension.

Tonight, a panel of transportation experts will discuss the likelihood of bringing Metro to the eastern end of Prince William County.

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) has been pushing for a feasibility study for several years to assess the cost and impact of bringing a line as far east as Woodbridge.

“Metrorail to Prince William County is one transit option we should look at as a solution to relieve congestion at a reasonable cost to consumers,” Connolly said in a statement. “We are not saying that Metro should be extended, but it is important that we study its feasibility.”

That will be the topic of Monday night's meeting hosted by Connolly and several other state and local officials. The meeting will also provide a time for residents to ask questions and offer their opinions on the possibility of a Metro extension.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Harbour View, 13200 Marina Way in Woodbridge.
