"Road Closed" signs are in place on some West Hollywood streets as the area prepares for a visit Monday afternoon from President Barack Obama.

The president is scheduled to arrive at LAX at 4:30 p.m. as part of his three-day West Coast fundraising trip. He will head to the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, then travel to the Fig & Olive restaurant on Melrose Place.

A few streets that will likely be affected by the visit:

  • Sunset Boulevard from Barrington Avenue through Brentwood, Westwood and Beverly Hills to La Cienega Boulevard
  • Sunset Strip from the Beverly Hills line east to Sweetzer Avenue
  • Santa Monica Boulevard from the Beverly Hills line east to La Cienega Boulevard
  • Holloway Drive, Fountain Avenue and Olive Drive near La Cienega
  • San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. until noon Tuesday

The president is scheduled to spend Monday night in Los Angeles before leaving LAX for Denver at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Secret Service makes the final call regarding street closures and the motorcade route, according to city officials.

"It is my hope they have learned  from previous visits and understand that Angelenos already face gridlock on a  daily basis and will not tolerate lengthy delays due to the President's  visit,'' said Councilman Bill Rosendahl.

At least one West Hollywood business opted to avoid the possible traffic congestion by staying closed. The Center for Early Education, in the 500 block of North Alfred Street,  was closed Monday because of the visit, according to its website.

Monday's visit marks President Obama's seventh to LA. In April, he participated in three fundraisers in about 18 hours.
