Two new names were added to the Connecticut Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Windsor Locks over the weekend.
Robert Watts, a Windsor Volunteer Firefighter and Bruce Bachinsky, a Waterbury Firefighter were honored in an emotional ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Watts collapsed and died while connecting a hose to a hydrant while responding to a call at the Windsor Rehabilitation Center in April.
Bachinsky died of a heart attack shortly after finishing his shift last October.
Watts' son, Allen, a firefighter himself, was moved by the tribute.
"In a way, it kind of does, but in a way the pain is still there. It's just, it gives you a good feeling knowing that people really do care and they're here honoring my dad," Watts said.
The remembrance ceremony included the dedication of a 12-foot steel beam from the World Trade Center site.
A former Newington resident who is now a New York City firefighter was in attendance.
"It doesn't really matter whether you're a New York City fireman or a fireman in Connecticut, we risk the same," FDNY Lt. Tim Klett said.
There are more than 300 names on the memorial.
