The leader of the health department in Riverside County announced Thursday evening he was quitting his job. Dr. Eric Frykman's resignation is unexpected.
Exactly what led to Frykman's departure is unknown. He was the defendant in a sexual harassment lawsuit, which was filed earlier this year.
Riverside County Supervisors have not made any official comment on the resignation. Within the past couple months, Riverside County's CEO also resigned, stating that he wished to retire.
Frykman was in charge of several health-related programs in Riverside County. Earlier this week, his department was tasked with devising a plan to achieve 100 percent compliance for Riverside County students who have not yet received the whooping cough vaccine.
Frykman joined Riverside County in February 2007. He was previously a health director in San Bernardino County.
