If a pilot program runs as planned, you may soon be able to skip some of the long lines at the driver's license office.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is testing a new online registration system that allows drivers to who have passed the written exam and have a learner's permit to go online and schedule their driving test.
That means shorter lines and less crowded DPS offices.
Currently, the only offices using the online system in North Texas are in Hurst, Plano and Carrollton. If the tests go well, the DPS could roll out the program state-wide.
