Attempted Carjacking Leaves Woman Injured

Philadelphia police are searching for a man they say tried to carjack a woman in the Holmesburg section of the city on Friday morning.

The victim tells police that she was getting into her car at Frankford and Cottman Avenues just before 7 a.m. when she was approached by a man wanting to take her car.

In an attempt to get away from the suspect, the woman began driving, according to the police. The man then fired a shot, hitting the victim in the hip.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.

Police say the suspect is a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants with a white stripe.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
