The NBA's newly minted Brooklyn Nets want a new public-address announcer for their move to Barclays Center next year. And it wouldn't hurt if the candidate spoke fluent Brooklynese.
The Nets are holding open auditions Friday for the announcer's job.
A team official tells the New York Post that the Nets are looking for someone with a booming, dynamic voice that will make the building shake.
And it would be "nice" — but not required — if the PA announcer were from Brooklyn.
Nets senior vice president Petra Pope says even someone with a thick Brooklyn accent could get the job.
If the NBA lockout ends this season, the winner would begin working immediately for the team's final season in New Jersey.
The Nets are moving to Brooklyn next fall.
