Teenagers Arrested in Compton Murder Case

Los Angeles County Sheriffs Deputies have arrested a 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend in connection with the apparent killings of a Compton couple related to the female suspect who were reported missing earlier this week.

Tuesday night, friends gathered at the couple's trailer home in Compton, and identified them as Jose and Gloria Villarga. Those who knew the family said one suspect was a victim's daughter.

On Tuesday, relatives of the couple reported them missing "under suspicious circumstances,'' said Lt. Mary Leef of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

A woman's body was discovered about 10 a.m. Saturday in a shallow grave in a vacant lot in the 11800 block of Norwalk Boulevard in Norwalk.

On Thursday, another body was discovered in a shallow grave in a vacant lot at Atlantic Avenue and Artesia Boulevard in North Long Beach, about a block from the couple's home. The remains were that of an unidentified man, said coroner's Chief Craig Harvey.

Investigators were working to positively identify both bodies and determine the cause of death, said Lt. Matt Burson of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau.

The female suspect is related to the missing pair, but the exact relationship was not immediately disclosed, Leef said.

"The family gave detectives the names of two subjects to contact regarding the disappearance,'' Leef said. "In the late evening of Oct. 19, homicide detectives received information from the subjects regarding the location of one of the missing people.''

"There is a high probability that they could be those two individuals,'' Burson said.

The teens' names were withheld because they are underage. Both were being held without bail in juvenile detention.
