Man Tries to Lure South Jersey Student: Cops

Police are investigating an alleged attempted abduction in Gloucester County.

It happened last Friday at the J. Mason Tomlin School in Mantua.

A security officer says that a female student walking home was approached by a man driving a red van.

Investigators say the man told the girl that her mother sent him to pick her up. The girl then ran away while the man fled the area.

The suspect is described as a white male between 30 to 40 years of age, with light brown hair and a scruffy beard. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt.

The Mantua School District was alerted of the incident. The Mantua Police Department is currently investigating.
