A 17-month-old boy is dead after a car witnesses say appeared to be out of control ran over the stroller in which he was sitting in front of a San Antonio military hospital.
The accident happened Wednesday morning on Fort Sam Houston in front of the San Antonio Military Medical Center, formerly called Brooke Army Medical Center.
For Sam Houston spokesman Brent Boller says an 86-year-old retired Army colonel was driving his car when it struck the stroller being pushed in the hospital parking lot by the child's mother, who's an enlisted soldier.
The mother was not injured. However, the car slammed into a sport utility vehicle and a portable building. The driver was hospitalized in critical condition.
Boller and hospital spokesman Dewey Mitchell declined to identify those involved.
