Thousands Running Army Ten-Miler

Thousands Running Army Ten-Miler

30,000 people are hitting the pavement on Sunday for the 27th annual Army Ten-Miler.

This year sees the introduction of a new start and finish line for the runners. The race will start on route 110 and finish in the Pentagon North Parking Lot. In between, runners will cross into Washington, D.C. via the Memorial Bridge, circle around the Watergate complex and skirt the south side of the National Mall before doubling back and recrossing the Potomac via the George Mason Memorial Bridge.

The race loops around Arlington and D.C., so there are a few roads closed to accommodate the racers.

Route 110 is shut down until noon, and I-395 HOV lanes are on a rolling schedule from the Eads Street ramp to the District until noon as well. There will be no access to Pentagon North Parking, the eastern portion of Pentagon South Parking, or Boundary Channel Drive until 3:00 p.m.

.Access to the Memorial Bridge and Memorial Drive from Washington Boulevard will be restored at 10 a.m.

Streets along the race route in the city -- including Independence. Constitution, Virginia, and Maryland Avenues, Rock Creek Parkway,  and First, 14th, and 19th Streets -- should be re-opened by noon.

To help accommodate the crush of people, Metro opened at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday.
