Arson investigators in Long Island are looking into an early-morning fire inside a Catholic church in Levittown Sunday.

The fire at St. Thomas Malankra Orthodox Catholic Church broke out at about 4:25 a.m., according to Nassau County police. The church at 100 Schoolhouse Rd. was under construction, with only the shell and concrete work completed.

Cardboard boxes and wood crates containing elevator materials were ignited in four spearate areas, police said.

The East Meadow Fire Department responded with four fire trucks and 20 firefighters to put out the fire, according to authorities. The building suffered minor damage.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
