Calm Returns to Air and Space Museum

Calm Returns to Air and Space Museum

It was business as usual at the Air and Space Museum on Sunday after a particularly forceful group of protesters helped to force the museum's early closure on Saturday.

Museum spokesperson Isabel Lara told the Associated Press that the museum opened on schedule at 10 a.m. and no changes were made to security procedures.

It was a marked change from the chaos of Saturday afternoon, when more than 100O protestors from the group October2011 tried to enter the museum, only to be rebuffed by museum security. Undeterred, the protestors tried to force their way in and were met by a dose of pepper spray.

One person was arrested in the ensuing melee, and the museum was forced to close at 3:00 p.m. It normally closes at 5:30.

The group was protesting an ongoing exhibition of military drones, which it considers a "glorification of extra-judicial executions and the military industrial complex," according to a statement on its website.
