Light rain Tuesday night aided fire crews in Julian working to extinguish a large brushfire.
The “Great Fire” is now 90 percent contained, and a CAL Fire spokesperson said continued showers Wednesday should help them knock the fire out completely.
Residents nearby were issued an evacuation advisory, and 25 homes were in danger when the fire first broke out Oct. 1, but are no longer at risk. Highway 78 at Wynola has also been reopened.
CAL Fire had nearly 1500 firefighters on the lines working 24-hour shifts.
The fire scorched 2,000 acres as of Tuesday.
