A new wildfire is threatening Bastrop County, where an out-of-control inferno destroyed more than 1,5000 homes in September.
The current fire, dubbed the Old Potato Road, has burned more than 1,000 acres and is only 25 percent contained.
John Nichols, with the Texas Forest Service, expected that percentage to climb Wednesday.
Nichols said that with winds and temperatures down overnight and humidity up, "the conditions were right for them to keep a pretty good handle on it."
According to the TFS, 50 homes are threatened and evacuations are under way for 28 homes with structure protection in progress.
Heavy air tankers, dozer task forces, helicopters, SEATs are all part of suppression efforts. The fire has not, so far, burned any structures.
The fire is burning in heavy fules approximately 7 miles northeast of Bastrop.
