Fear not, snow-weary tri-state residents. Things will get warmer.
Even though it's a brisk and cold morning, the weather is headed in the right direction. Temperatures may hit 60 degrees several times over the next week.
Highs this afternoon will range from the upper 40s north and west of the city to the middle 50s in the city.
Lingering snow and ice from this weekend's storm will continue melting for much, if not all of the day.
By trick-or-treat time tonight, the kids are looking at temperatures in the middle to upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies. They shouldn't need any heavy coats over their costumes.
Forecasters say a few showers along the coast tomorrow are likely. Expect another round of scattered showers across the tri-state on Friday, but none of the rain will be heavy.
For the most part, this week looks dry and mild.
Forecasters predict the region will transition back into above normal autumn temperatures for most of the week.
Expect highs in the 50s today and tomorrow, near 60 degrees on Wednesday and temperatures in the 50s Thursday through Saturday.
Temperatures will likely increase to 60 degrees or better for the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday.
