The father of a Maryland teenager whose body was found in a D.C. trash can was sentenced to 40 years in prison Thursday.
Rodney McIntyre, who initially publicly criticized police for not finding his daughter’s killer, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder while armed in July.
On Nov. 26, 2010, 17-year-old Ebony Franklin, of Capitol Heights, went to go Christmas shopping with her father but never returned. McIntyre tried to cover up the murder by sending text messages from his daughter’s cell phone to her mother and stepfather.
Police found Ebony’s body covered with trash on Fairmount Street in Northwest. She had been stabbed at least 15 times.
During the investigation, police learned McIntyre had a sexual relationship with his daughter dating to 2008.
