23 Displaced After Manassas Fire, Woman Charged with Arson

A woman has been charged with felony arson after a fire displaced 23 people, including 12 children, and damaged six units in a Manassas apartment building.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 10128 Woodbury Drive to find flames shooting through the roof of the building. Fire Marshals have determined that the fire started on the second floor, though it is still not clear exactly how the fire started.

28-year-old Tanisha Bates was arrested and is being held without bond at the Adult Detention Center. Investigators have not provided a motive for the crime, nor have they made clear whether Bates actually lived in the building in question.

Damage has been estimated at $600,000.
