Mag Mile Resurfacing Begins Wednesday

Michigan Avenue might be a bit more hectic starting Wednesday.

Chicago Department of Transportation crews will begin a resurfacing project on part of the Mag Mile from Illinois Street to Oak Street and Inner Lake Shore Drive from Oak to Division Street.

The project is expected to continue through mid-November, according to CDOT.

During that time, one or two lanes on Michigan and Inner Lake Shore will be closed as old asphalt is removed, utility structures are adjusted to the level of the new roadway and new asphalt is put into place.

The project is part of the department's annual street-repair program and includes patching curbs and sidewalks, adjusting manholes and generally improving the roadway.

Parking restrictions will be in place throughout work zones, noted by posted signs, according to CDOT. Restrictions will include some streets crossing Michigan Avenue.
