Police are seeking the public’s help identifying three teens wanted for the armed robbery of a man in a South Philly subway station on Saturday, September 18.
Around 11:45 p.m., the teens were caught on tape when they approached the 42-year-old victim while he was walking through the subway platform at the Ellsworth-Federal stop, according to authorities.
Police say they demanded the man’s backpack, and when he wouldn’t hand it over, one of the suspects pointed a gun and tried to take the bag off the man’s back.
When other riders began entering the platform, the teens fled on foot, officials said.
Police are describing all three suspects as black males between the ages of 14 and 18. One suspect is 5-feet 6-inches with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing an off-white hoodie, dark jeans with holes and gray sneakers. The second suspect is also 5-feet 6-inches, also wearing an off-white hoodie. He had track pants on with dark sneakers. The third suspect is 5-feet 7-inches. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with dark jeans and sneakers.
These suspects will also be investigated in connection with 12 other robberies in the area since August 23.
Police are asking anyone that sees the teens to call 9-1-1 immediately. If you have any information on their identities, please submit a tip at 215-686-TIPS or call South Detectives.
