Derailment Causes Extensive Subway Delays

A derailed 6 train is causing major problems for the Monday morning rush.

Spokeswoman Judie Glave says an empty train backed up to the disabled train and 19 people were safely evacuated.

At this point, 4, 5 and 6 trains are running express from the Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall Station to the 14th Street Station. Extensive delays should be expected in both directions

For alternate service, customers are advised to use the N, Q, R, 1, 2 and 3 trains.

MTA officials hope to have the derailed train back on track by 7:30 a.m., but residual delays could be problematic for the morning commute.
