A bald eagle found dead last month was not shot to death as previously believed, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says a bald eagle found dead near Cumberland last month died from natural causes, not a gunshot wound, as previously thought.
Natural Resources Police told a local newspaper that a hole in the bird's breast was made after the eagle was dead and not by bullet. But they say another bird-shooting still has investigators puzzled. A state-endangered northern goshawk was killed by a 12-gauge shot gun back in June. It was the only known breeding goshawk in the entire state of Maryland.
