Another Laser Hits Plane in North Texas Skies

Another Laser Hits Plane in North Texas Skies

Just one day after a North Texas man was indicted on federal charges for shining a laser at an airplane, another North Texan has done the same thing.

Someone near Lancaster shined a green laser at a plane overhead, bringing the number of laser strikes in North Texas to 100 this year. In 2010, there were 66 reported in the Metroplex.

The green lasers are commonly used by astronomers or casual stargazers because they create a visible line that can pinpoint a spot in the heavens. That powerful green line can also temporarily blind a pilot.

Sammy Ladymon, the man indicted Monday, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
