A motorcyclist died after colliding with a big rig on the San Diego (405) freeway in Westwood this afternoon.
The crash occurred on the northbound side of the freeway near Sunset Boulevard and was reported at 6:14 p.m., said Officer Krystal Carter with California Highway Patrol.
The two left lanes were open by the time the coroner arrived on the scene around 9:30 p.m., Carter said.
Authorities do not know how long the lanes will be closed, she added.
California Highway Patrol released a 2-hour SIG alert at 7:35 p.m. and closed the four right lanes, backing up traffic to Highway 90.
No details have emerged about the motorists involved and the accident is under investigation.
